Leaving Cert 2020 update

8th May 2020

The Leaving Cert as we know it has been cancelled for 2020.

It is to be replaced by a predictive grades system which will be processed in our school and sent on to the Department of Education and the State Exams Commission (SEC).

It has been announced that there will be a facility to appeal these grades to the department.

It has also been announced that students who are not happy with their grades will have the opportunity to sit their Leaving Cert subject exams in the Autumn of this year, when it is deemed safe to do so by the relevant authorities. However these will not be concluded in time for 3rd level entry in 2020.

That is all the information we have for now. As more detail becomes available we will provide regular updates.

Wellread Programme

We are delighted to announce that we have received the "wellread" award, an initiative designed and organised by the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST). It aims to create heightened awareness about the importance of creating a culture of reading in school communities for our young people as part of their personal and academic development. The school community is now recognised nationally as a school that promotes and encourages a culture of reading.

You can read more about the award on the PDST website by clicking here, and you can find out more about our school initiatives under the "extra-curricular" tab above.
